We are delighted that motorised drawstop versions of the all-new Makin Thirlmere 2-36 (in Mixbury) and Makin Windermere 3-53 (in Shaw) are now in the ChurchOrganWorld showrooms for customers to come and play.
Following on from their original design work, Professor Ian Tracey and Dr Keith Harrington spent a day voicing each instrument to thoroughly ensure that each stop blends perfectly to produce that special English sound that so many people world-wide appreciate. The results speak for themselves, and it is clear from the outset that these instruments will be firm favourites with customers.
What’s more, Ian spent a wonderful day aided by Shea Lolin and Vera van de Krol recording several pieces on the Windermere instrument, including a ‘talk and play’ session where he demonstrates in detail the whole instrument. These videos will be published in early 2024.
The smaller two manual Rydal (2-26) and four manual Derwent (4-68) instruments are currently being built and in due course will be available to play in our showrooms.
