The ‘Sounds of the Summer’ concert held at our Mixbury showroom on Saturday 4th May was a roaring success with 100 guests hearing over three hours of live and very varied organ music from Professor Ian Tracey on a range of instruments including the new Thirlmere organ from Makin.
Guests browsed and purchased sheet organ music from a number of publishers and purchased a number of gifts and souvenirs in aid of the Liverpool Cathedral Organ Appeal. Food and drink for the day were free with donations close to £600 going directly to the appeal.
Getting so close to a celebrity recitalist is always a thrill for many organists who thoroughly enjoyed Ian’s playing together with good doses of his wit and humour.
The day got off to a challenging start when the marquees were literally blown away by the wind; however good team work saved the day and many guests were none the wiser!
A similar event will be held in Shaw, Lancashire on Saturday 5th October when Ian Tracey will be joined by a very special guest which will include a ‘not to be repeated’ duet. Please send an e-mail to opendays@makinorgans.co.uk to apply for your tickets.
