We are delighted to announce that Managing Director, Dr Keith Harrington was recently awarded an Honorary Fellowship from The North & Midlands School of Music. The Fellowship Diploma was presented in recognition of Services to Church Music including long-standing roles as Managing Director of Copeman Hart & Company Ltd, Makin Organs Ltd and Church Organ World. The fellowship certificate was presented to him by Chairman Dr Colin Porter.
Keith commented “It was an enormous pleasure to attend my first AGM of the North & Midlands School of Music this last weekend and to formally receive my honorary fellowship from Colin. A simply splendid day was had by all, starting off with a fish and chip lunch followed by the formal business of the AGM. There was plenty of time to socialise and to learn more about the NMSM. Following a brief but informative tour of the church and its history by Colin came the presentation of awards and then a short recital on the famous Father Willis Organ at Mossley Hill Parish Church.
He added “Sadly the organ could only be played from the two-manual nave console as there is significant work ongoing replacing the keyboards on the main three-manual choir console. Of course this is an organ which has been recorded and is available for the Johannus LiVE instruments.”
The event was faithfully recorded in a series of photographs by John Watkinson who did a simply splendid Job. To learn more about the NMSM, please visit their website and make contact as appropriate. At just £20.00 per year, this is money well spent for any organist.
